This past Saturday Charrie and I had the privilege of going to the Harrisburg Great American Outdoor Show. The Great American Outdoor Show was in its first year of production by the NRA. In 2013 the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show came to an abrupt end after the decision of Reed Exhibitions to not allow tactical firearms to be displayed at the show. After the press release an overwhelming multitude of event exhibitors pulled out of the show causing the largest gathering of outdoors men and women to be inevitably canceled. The NRA vamped up the show and brought it roaring back to life for the year 2014. Upon entry to the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex, attendees are greeted with a mass of people moving in and out of isles trying to get a glimpse at the newest products to hit the firearm market. Once inside it is easy to get lost in the multiple buildings connected by a series of winding pathways. To combat the ciaos the NRA came out with an app to help guide your day of entertainment. The GAOS app had the layout of where every room was, where every exhibitor was in the room, and a running list of events set to take place all week. Finding food proved to be the most difficult task of the whole day. The food court was filled by only a hand full of sub par food providers. The archery room was a big hit with all the new products out from top manufacturers. If it was to do with archery you could find it at the show. With everything from bows by top companies such as Hoyt, PSE, and Mathews, to archery accessories such as the Steady Form torque eliminator. This was where you wanted to be if you are an archery fiend. Another prevalent department was the fishing hall which the NRA dedicated the third largest room to. Another unique aspect the NRA brought with them were the speakers to the small arena. Headlining the way was TV's Lee and Tiffany Lakosky from Outdoor Channel's The Crush. This show was well organized and planned for from the beginning to the end. My hat goes off to the NRA and thanks them for bringing this show back bigger and better than ever before.
